Letter – Uniform Skirts

The following letter is being sent home today.

Dear Parent/Carer,

High uniform standards help to support a positive climate for learning and the vast majority of Newman College pupils wear their uniform with pride on a daily basis.

In order to support our drive for consistent high uniform standards, the college are introducing a change in the uniform requirements. From 1st September 2018, pupils will no longer be able to wear any black formal school skirt. Pupils will be required to wear the standard ‘Newman College’ skirt which will include the school logo. This will be compulsory for all pupils who choose to wear a skirt. The skirt will be available in a wide range of sizes and there will an option of two different lengths.

Female students will still have the option of wearing tailored black trousers, from their own choice of retailer. These must be of a formal, tailored style and must not be tightly fitted or lycra, (see college website for further details).

The reason for introducing the ‘Newman skirt’ is to introduce a consistent approach across college with respect to the length and style of skirt worn by pupils. Our uniform plays a vital role in supporting our ethos and we are grateful for your support in this matter.

The skirt is priced at £14.99/£17.99. It is available to order now on the Monkhouse website, and will be in stock from 15 July. Please note also that, following the flood damage in the Oldham store, this outlet is due to re-open on Saturday 23 June. Thank you for your understanding during this period.

Please visit our website for further information, or go to www.monkhouse.com.

Thank you for your continued support.

Yours faithfully,

Mrs K Diveney

Deputy Headteacher
