CAREERS
‘To provide exposure and experiences that will build courage to open as many doors as possible. ‘
We aim to give pupils access to opportunities and to develop the skills to be able to obtain as many opportunities as possible. Our careers journey can be achieved by giving pupils the chances to indicate what their current interests are with regards to jobs and careers. We can then adapt our careers programme either termly or annually to reflect pupils’ interests.
Although links with FE, HE and a few local businesses are already made we aim to establish them further by utilising links with designated people at these establishments who liaise with schools.
We want to provide a careers programme in which all pupils:
• are supported in finding out about academic and technical education qualifications and apprenticeship opportunities
• are provided with information on the full range of education and training options available at each transition point
• hear from a range of businesses, employers and employees about the opportunities on offer, through options events, assemblies and group discussions and taster events
• secure an understanding of how to make applications for the full range of academic and technical courses.
At Newman RC College, we provide effective careers information, education, advice and guidance to encourage pupils to make good choices and understand what they need to do to succeed in the careers to which they aspire.
