Covid Testing

Dear Parent/Carer THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION IS ONLY APPLICABLE TO THOSE STUDENTS THAT ARE CURRENTLY ATTENDING COLLEGE (NOT IN ISOLATION) AND HAVE NOT HAD A POSITIVE COVID TEST WITHIN THE LAST 90 DAYS

Due to the recent spike in the Delta variant within our area and the increasing number of cases within College, Public Health England are asking all Newman College students to again, participate in on site Lateral Flow Testing.

The intention is that Public Health England will have testing teams in College on Thursday 17th and Friday 18th June. In order to plan how this can be achieved efficiently, it is essential that you read the information below; decide whether you wish to give consent for your child to be tested; and notify the college using the link within the email that has been sent to you.

  • Having a test is VOLUNTARY and requires parent/carer consent.

  • Students will attend College as normal on these days and will be advised by College staff when to make their way to the Sports Hall, where they will self-administer a Lateral Flow Test, guided and supervised by members of Public Health England staff; and College staff will be present to support.

  • If your child tests positive, then we will contact you by telephone to confirm that they must be collected from school immediately and a PCR (Polymerase Chain Reaction) test booked at a designated COVID-19 testing site. In addition, all members of your household must self-isolate, and book a PCR test in line with Government guidance.

  • Please note that students who have tested positive are not allowed to travel on public transport and therefore arrangements for them to be collected must be made.

To give your consent for your child to be tested as described above, then please open the link in your email from us and provide us with consent and the required details (ensuring it is submitted), no later than 12 noon on Wednesday 16th June 2021.

In addition, please can I draw your attention to the Newman RC College Privacy Statement regarding testing on our website. Thank you for your patience, understanding and cooperation. Miss Scott Deputy Headteacher: Pastoral & Safeguarding
