Dear Parent/Carer,

IMPORTANT - Variation to the College Day

I am writing to you, to give you advanced notice of a change to the timing of the College Day, which will come into effect from 1st September 2022.

The Department for Education recently published a document, which sets out expectations for schools and included the total number of hours a school must be open for.

The guidance states:

‘All mainstream schools will be expected to provide a compulsory week of at least 32.5 hrs, which equates to six and a half hours a day, Monday to Friday.’

As we currently operate a 31-hour week, we have made the following change:

• Pupils will no longer finish College at 13:45pm on Wednesdays but will remain in College until 15:15pm.

This means that the College week will now follow the timings below:

All pupils must be in college by 08:45am at the latest every day and be registered by 08:50am.

The College will finish at 15:15pm every day, including Wednesday.

We have informed the school bus company of the change and we have been assured that this change has been updated, and that the school buses will drop off pupils at College by 08:45am and pick up pupils at 15:15pm.
