Strike Action - 05.07.2023 and 07.07.23
30th June 2023 Dear parents/carers,
The National Education Union (NEU) have declared strike action for two days on Wednesday 5th July and Friday 7th July 2023.
The strike is happening because of a national dispute between the unions and the government over matters such as teachers’ pay, funding for schools, working conditions and not because of any issues at our college.
Regrettably, an overwhelming majority of teaching staff intend to strike and therefore our risk assessment forces us to take appropriate action. Given the lack of available teachers on Wednesday 5th July and Friday 7th July, the college will be closed to most pupils in Years 7-10.
Parents and carers of those pupils eligible to attend in Years 7-10 have already been contacted with further details. For students in Years 7-10 not eligible to attend the college, remote learning will be made accessible through Satchel One on these days.
All pupils attending on these days are expected to be in full uniform. The school bus services will be running as normal, and food will be available at break and lunch as usual.
On behalf of the college, please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused and we hope that this action is brought swiftly to an end.
Yours sincerely,
Mr G R Potts MBE DL
Headteacher
