Summer Ball 2021

Dear Parent/Guardian,

Newman College are pleased to announce that we will be holding a Year 11 Summer Ball on the 22nd June 2021.

There will be, however, strict criteria in order for your child to be invited to the evening and they must have met this criteria which is detailed below:

• Maintain excellent attendance with no unauthorised absences.

• One day of religious observance for Eid will be authorised.

• Arrive punctually to school and lessons

• Be in the right place, at the right time, doing the right thing with the right attitude.

• Ensure no responsibility codes are accrued

• No fixed term exclusions.

• No SLT detentions.

• Attend as many revision/intervention sessions as possible.

Should your child fall short of these basic expectations in the weeks following this letter they risk being unable to attend this celebratory event.

Students are required to arrive at college between 6.00pm and 6:30pm. Details of specific slot times will be sent closer to the date. Due to Covid restrictions we will be holding the event in school and doing our absolute utmost to ensure a great evening for all including venue dressing, DJ and catering. After a tough year or so we believe that the students’ efforts deserve to be acknowledged.

This letter is only to inform you and your child that we intend to host a celebration evening for year 11’s: this is NOT an invite. Invites will be sent through at a later stage if your child meets the criteria set out above. Within the invitation letter there will be a consent form, details of your child’s arrival to the Ball and the request for information on how your child will be leaving the event. The Summer Ball will finish at 10pm prompt, and students must make their own travel arrangements to college and home (at the end of the night).

The tickets will £15 each which will include entertainment and food (vegetarians will be catered for). As this is event is still a representation of Newman college, students will therefore be expected to behave in an exemplary manner throughout the evening.

Yours sincerely

J Huddart

Year 11 Year Leader
