Transition Days Update

Dear Parents and Carers,

Our plans to welcome your child into the Newman Family in September are well underway however it is with regret that I must confirm that we are no longer able to hold the face to face transition days on Wednesday 30th June and Thursday 1st July.

The decision has been taken due to the increasing number of cases of Covid-19 within the college and local community as we must prioritise health and safety.

The transition team will continue to hold virtual meetings with primary colleagues in preparation to welcome your child in September and are delighted to share our plans for a virtual transition week from Monday 5th to Friday 9th July.

Each day that week, we will set two daily challenges on our twitter feed, @NewmanRCCollege for your child to engage in. In addition, all pupils will receive a welcome pack to help get your child September ready. The pack will include a range of activities and a reading book to read over the summer ready for their curriculum in Year 7.

Below outlines what to expect in addition:

Summer School

You will have already received information about our summer school, and we have already over 120 parents sign up for their child to attend one of the weeks. This will be a great opportunity for pupils to meet and work with their peers as well as engaging in various activities including an accredited transition award. There are a maximum of 150 places so if any further parents are interested please contact s.mcnee@newmanrc.oldham.sch.uk.

Thank you for your understanding on this matter and we look forward to working with you over the next five years. Please remember we have the transition email for any transition questions you may have Transition2021@newmanrc.oldham.sch.uk

Yours sincerely,

Mrs N Foley

Assistant Head Teacher: KS3 and Transition
