Year 11 Remote Online offer and Events from Monday 7th June 2021
I am writing to inform you of our Remote Online offer to all Year 11 students from Monday 7th June 2021 to Friday 25th June. The guidance from the Department of Education is that schools should continue to provide opportunities to meet the progression needs of their students during the period after assessment completion, and that is absolutely what we want to do to continue to support our Y11 students transition.
This Remote Online provision will take place on Microsoft Teams and all Year 11 Students will be invited to a series of calendared events as outlined in the attached document. Sessions will be delivered by both teaching and support staff beginning with a Leavers Liturgy at 9.30am on Monday 7th June. Sessions will be a combination of live online sessions for A-Level progression, booster sessions and employment/life skills. We will also be introducing students to several Online Courses available for completion as independent study from the National Careers Service ‘Skills Toolkit’.
There are some limited places for students to take part in this offer at school. There is a link to an online form for you to express an interest in this should you wish, however we must insist that you commit to your child attending this ‘in school’ provision each day until Friday 25th June. Any pupils attending school will have to arrive before 9am and will require a ‘reading book’ for silent reading until the online sessions begin at 9.30am. Students will be provided with a laptop and headphones to take part in these online sessions and will not be able to mix with other year groups. Students must be in full uniform and will be expected to follow all Newman RC College rules with normal sanctions applied. Deadline for completing the form is Weds 2nd June.

A Leavers Assembly is scheduled to take place in school on the 14th June at 2.15pm and more details will follow. Any students who have ordered Leavers Hoodies will receive them at the Leavers’ Assembly. Regrettably, the supplier has not yet delivered them due to Covid delays. In addition to this, plans are progressing for some form of celebration event for Year 11, albeit that Covid restrictions may make this difficult. We hope to share more after half term.

· Online ‘protocols’ of behaviour and engagement apply to all students taking up the offer
· All additional opportunities we receive from Post-16 providers and Positive Steps/Careers for Year 11 students will also be communicated through MS Teams, student email and MyEd to parents
