Year 7 Literacy & Numeracy Testing

Dear Year 7 parents,

RE: Year 7 Literacy and Numeracy Tests

We are writing to inform you that as in previous years, all Year 7 students will complete a Literacy and Numeracy Test the week commencing 14th September 2020.

These tests are to help ensure that we have a sound grasp of every student’s starting point with us and can therefore be used by teachers to aid with planning for progress. As we will explain to students, we simply ask that students try their best and there is no prior preparation required.

These paper-based tests will be completed in classrooms under exam conditions (see below for dates/times). Those pupils who are entitled to additional support will complete their tests in the Dance Studio.

Monday 14th September: Numeracy Test – Periods 2 & 3

Tuesday 15th September: Literacy Test – Periods 2 & 3

It is important that all students arrive on time for each test. Students are to go to their timetable Period 2 classroom unless they receive additional support; these students should remain in the Canteen following the end of break at 10.30am and they will be escorted from the Canteen to the Dance Studio by a member of staff.

In addition, Year 7 students will also complete online Reading Tests between 16th and 28th September; these electronic tests will take place during the student’s timetabled English lessons. Again, these tests are to help ensure we have known accurate reading ages for all of our students.

Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support and ask that if you have any concerns or questions, please contact me at school on 0161 785 8858.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs L Wyatt

Examinations Officer
