Citizenship Action Projects

As part of their Citizenship GCSE, students in Year 10 delivered presentations to their peers in Personal Development today. Each group had to create an Action Project, where they chose an important topic and as part of this, create a presentation to their peers.

Examples of these presentation topics included misogyny and institutionalised racism, where the groups presented definitions, statistics, impact and the need for change. The groups wowed their peers throughout the presentations, with comments from students such as:

"Really educational as I learnt that racism can be hidden"

"I loved the confidence and organisation of the group"

"It was very impactful in terms of giving me clarity on how misogyny is adopted and normalised online, I have personally seen these things but failed to realise the impact on girls and women"

"They made us feel welcome and were really well spoken"

"Spoke  about a very important topic without making it uncomfortable"

The groups really sparked the interest of their peers but also created a sense of responsibility and service to society. This was reflected in their presentations when they said comments such as "we must interrupt the cycle" and "by stepping up we encourage others to change".

We are extremely proud of our Year 10 Citizenship students and cannot wait to see how they create further change and action in the world, just like Jesus wants us to.
