Debate Mate Success"

On 24th April 16 of our debate students took part in a regional competition for debate mate called the Debate Mate Cup. This consisted of three debates on topics such as energy production for the UK, Social media and politicians and pay disparity between athletes and public sector workers.

After the first round, all three of our teams won their debates and judges complimented us on how respectful and kind we were to the opposition. In the end, we came in third place out of all the schools in Manchester narrowly missing out on the final by just a few points! This is a massive achievement and Newman are extremely proud of all our teams. They show dedication and resilience whilst developing English and interpersonal skills.

There is still room for new members to join our amazing team. The club takes place in S10 on Mondays with Mrs Parkes and Mrs Clapham. If you are interested in joining our wonderful team, please come and join us!
