Dear Parents and Carers,
I would like to introduce you to a new initiative for our Newman Family: the Newman Food Pantry and Pre-Loved Uniform Swap. These initiatives are designed to help support families and ensure that every student has access to the resources they need to succeed both in and out of the classroom.
Food Pantry
Our new Food Pantry will provide students and families with free, dried food items, available for those who might be facing financial difficulties. This pantry is open to all families within our school community, and we encourage anyone in need to take advantage of the resources available. It will be open for both students and parents/carers to come and take the resources your household needs. The food pantry will be stocked with essential items such as canned goods, pasta, rice, and other non-perishable foods.
Pre-Loved Uniform Swap
Our Pre-Loved Uniform Shop will be stocked with second-hand, good quality uniforms including blazers, shirts, skirts, trousers, PE kits, coats, shoes, and essential school items such as bags, pencil cases, and stationery. This will be available for both students and parents to take what they need to ensure that students are fully prepared for school.
Donations
In order to run these two exciting and much-needed initiatives, we will be asking our community to support us by collecting donations. Students will have drop-off points inside the school, and parents and families will have a drop-off point at reception. The first opening date for both will be Wednesday 18th June from 3:15-4:00 pm, and both will take place in the dance studio via the external door on Broadway. This will then take place each Wednesday until Wednesday 16th July, and recommence in September. The Pupil Chaplain team will help run the pantry as part of their ongoing Faith in Action Award work.
We will be opening these initiatives in memory and honour of Dawn Gladrey, a Newman member of staff who passed away and who brought so much joy, happiness, and support to our Newman family.
If you have any questions, suggestions, or think you can offer support to these initiatives, please get in contact at s.mcnee@newmanrc.oldham.sch.uk.
We hope these new initiatives will be successful in supporting our families and wider community. I thank you in advance for your support and donations so we can get these running.
Yours sincerely,
Mrs S McNee

This initiative at Newman RC College is a wonderful example of community support, much like how high quality custom trucker hats bring a unique touch to personal style. The Food Pantry offers essential dried goods to families in need, ensuring no one goes hungry, while the Pre-Loved Uniform Swap helps students access schoolwear affordably
