On Monday 12th February our Year 7 cohort celebrated MacFest for the first time. This is a celebration of Islam through focusing in particular on Islamic Arts and Cultures. This is our 5th year celebrating MacFest with our young people.
Throughout the day the year group learnt the history of Islam, the importance of the prophet, Islamic dress and modesty, Islamic art and Ramadan and Eid. They also had a session together as a year group where five KS4 students shared what it means to be Muslim and led a personal reflection of the impact their religion has on their lives. They then finished the day with a celebration of themselves and everything they have to be grateful for in their lives.
It was a wonderful day with some wonderful work produced which showed the impact of learning about a new faith but also seeing what faith in action looks like.
