Trip Date: 16th October 2023
Skipton Castle is a 900-year old medieval castle situated at the head of Skipton's High Street, fully roofed with all the attributes of a castle including spiral staircases, dungeon, stone and oak floors. Most of the structure is made of stone.
The trip is a fantastic opportunity for the pupils to visualise all that they will have learned about castles during their study of the Norman transformation of England. The pupils will have a classroom assigned to them where they can leave their bags and where we will eat lunch. We will then be taken on guided tours of the castle, completing a treasure hunt-style worksheet to learn more about the history of the castle. We will then have lunch and the pupils will have an opportunity to visit the castle's gift-shop before we return back to Newman College
