Welcome to the New Term
I truly hope you have had a restful and enjoyable summer with your family. We are delighted to welcome back your children and the first week has gone well.
I have met with all the students this week in assemblies to reinforce our expectations regarding basic standards, hard work and co-operation.
I have also encouraged the students, in the words of Pope Francis, to “not be afraid to dream, to have great ideals, to be builders of hope.” Along with the basic standards, this culture, which is increasingly becoming the ‘Newman Way’, will bring about the success in education and formation that is our mission.
Ofsted (May 2014) noted ‘the examples of students making exceptional progress as a result of the teaching they receive’. The excellent summer exam results provide a ringing endorsement of our progress and achievement and must afford the students and you as parents great confidence in the college and its staff. I know I speak on behalf of governors when I say we are extremely proud of students and staff of Newman College and very much look forward to a successful year together
