This year we have entered two Newman teams for the GCHQ National Language Competition. This week-long online teamwork competition aims to give pupils an insight into the working of government agencies, and let them see how their language and logic skills might be useful in a future career. During lunchtime and after school, the volunteer pupils in Year 9 (with a little support from Year 11) have worked on codebreaking, semantic and logic puzzles. The puzzles have been really challenging, but pupils learned that teamwork and sharing out tasks according to individual interests and talents is the key to success.. Great work, future secret agents!
