Dear parents/carers,
You were made aware from my previous letter dated 26th January that the National Education Union (NEU) have declared strike action for two days on Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th March 2023.
The strike is happening because of a national dispute between the unions and the government over matters such as teachers’ pay, funding for schools, and working conditions, and not because of any issues at our college.
Regrettably, an overwhelming majority of teaching staff intend to strike and therefore our risk assessment forces us to take appropriate action. Given the lack of available teachers on Wednesday 15th and Thursday 16th March 2023, the college will be closed to most pupils.
Parents and carers of those pupils eligible to attend will be contacted via MyEd later today and tomorrow with further details.
On behalf of the college, please accept our sincere apologies for any inconvenience caused and we hope that this action is brought swiftly to an end.
